From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The residents of Kargarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State have expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the Chairman of the Council, Hon.
Muhuyideen Abdullahi Umar, for leading efforts at reconnecting their community back to the national grid.

The residents expressed their gratitude during the flag-off of the reconnection process in Jere Town on Monday, 12 May 2025.

According to them, reconnection of Kargarko Local Government Area to the national grid will not only improve visibility at night, but will go a long way to enhance socio-economic activities in the community.

“We are happy we now have light so we can preserve our foodstuffs and boost our economic activities,” a resident said.
Some school Children in the community also expressed their happiness, saying “now we can study at night.”

A traditional ruler, Alhaji Yahaya Sa’ad, who is the Dallatun Jere, said the reconnection, which will lead to the restoration of light, is a big relief to the people in the various communities.

According to him, the community has been sleeping in darkness ever since they were disconnected from the national grids 3 years ago.

He therefore commended Governor Uba Sani for coming to their aid by restoring lights to Kargarko LGA.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Kargarko Local Government Area, Hon.Muhuyideen Abdullahi Umar, who said the reconnection is the initiative of Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, disclosed that the reconnection of the Local Government Area to the national grid was to help improve the standard of living of the people in the area.

He stressed that it is one of the Governor’s agendas on Human capital development and rural transformation.
According to him, Governor Uba Sani has approved a huge amount of funds to ensure smooth reconnection.

He noted that the development of every community depended on electricity, good roads, potable drinking water, education, and health, and the Uba Sani administration is moving in that direction.

He expressed the hope that the electrification project would better the lot of the people.

In his remarks Managing Director of Kaduna Power Supply Company (KAPSCO) Idris Aminu Idris, FNSE, stressed that the decision to reconnect the Local Government Area to the National grid is in line with the Gov Uba Sani’s led administration drive aimed at bringing back to life, the areas hitherto deserted due to lack of electricity.

He added that the relative calmness being experienced now, in the State, encouraged the government to embark on the reconnection process and restore the vandalized cables.

He disclosed that even though it is the responsibility of his Agency to provide Electricity, Governor Uba Sani graciously provided funds for the reconnection projects.

Engr. Adamu Mato, who is leading the Engineers for the reconnection, disclosed that the reconnection from Mallam Sambo will be extended to Jere and Kargakko town within two weeks.
He seeks the cooperation of the residents to protect the installed cable because it is their property and they should take ownership.

Responding to this, a community leader, Mallam Yahaya Mohammed Jere, who is the Ardon Jere Said, has gone. The days of vandalism in the Kargarko Local government area are gone as two committees have been inaugurated to check any unforeseen circumstances.

The first committee, according to him, is the Electricity Committee that will ensure the protection of all electrical properties, and the Security Committee, according to him, will work with the

The Special Adviser to Governor Uba Sani on Rural Development, Shehu Aminu Abdullahi, said his Principal Gov Uba Sani is passionate about rural transformation and reconnecting the local Government Area to the national grid is part of it.
