Anthony Joshua’s  manager, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing has disclosed that Joshua aims to activate a rematch clause against Daniel Dubois.

In front of 96,000 spectators at Wembley in London, England on Saturday September 21, Daniel Dubois defeated Anthony Joshua in a dominant performance that stands as one of the most remarkable triumphs in recent heavyweight boxing history.

However, the statement by Hearn has now gone viral on social media with fans calling on Joshua to stop boxing.

This is Joshua’s fourth career loss and before Dubois, he was beaten by Andy Ruiz and Oleksandr Usyk twice.

Boxing fans believe Joshua has done the best he can and is now past his best.

They urged the British boxer of Nigerian descent to quit the sport before he further ruins all he has achieved.

Reasons Anthony Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois.

Daniel Dubois showed Anthony Joshua is past his prime and retirement is close with knock out In round 5 to win IBF title in front of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium.

Anthony Joshua’s hopes of winning the world heavyweight title were dashed by Daniel Dubois, who decisively knocked him out in the fifth round.

In the opening round, Dubois stunned the two-time world champion with a powerful right hook.

His strong performance in the second round caused gasps from the boisterous 96,000 spectators at Wembley.

Joshua was spared from certain execution by the bell, but Dubois’s brutal attack continued with a left hook that sent him falling into the ropes behind him.

In the fourth, the knockdowns continued, but Joshua held his composure as always to stay in the fight.

But in the fifth, after weathering a rare barrage from the former champion, Dubois turned out Joshua’s lights.

Dubois landed hard on his chin and was unable to get himself up as the bout came to a close, leaving Joshua on the canvas.

1.Anthony Joshua could not establish his jab

In a fight of heavyweight boxers, Anthony Joshua despite having more years on Daniel Dubois looked like an amateur in the biggest fight of his career.

The two-time heavyweight champion who is seven years older than Dubois put out an embarrassing display from the start till he was knocked out.

The problem from when the bell rang was Joshua unable to establish the jab effectively.

Dubois came out guns blazing but that fast start was aided by the lack of composure by Joshua who looked lost.

Joshua who is taller and has a longer reach than Dubois seemed excited to trade heavy blows at the start instead of working his jab.

The Watford star who has a reputation for a questionable chin believed the hype beating Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou that he stood center ring with no defense hoping for the best in a shoot-out and was rewarded accordingly.

  1. Daniel Dubois got his tactics right

While Joshua’s inability to work the jab and keep his distance was not expected, Dubois having a fast start was the obvious idea and it worked out well.

The youngster and his team decided to take it to Joshua from the start and was rewarded with an early knockdown.

Dubois is younger than Joshua and also a volume puncher, it made perfect sense for him to take the risk early hoping to fluster his opponent.

Credit to his trainer Don Charles who kept Dubois on attack chasing Joshua to the corners and the execution was also brilliant.

  1. Anthony Joshua is past his prime

Joshua has not beaten a credible opponent is five years and is now clearly past his prime.

The Watford man was not just beaten but dominated from start to finish on a big stage.

He  was unable to work his way out of tight areas, he was being battered when they clenched.

Joshua’s footwork was an absolute disgrace while his head movement was non-existent in what was a showing of a fight now past his best.

While his promoter Eddie Hearn is calling for a rematch, it will make sense for Joshua to call it a day and avoid further embarrassment.

Fans are of the view that Joshua should rather retire after the Dubois defeat, but with the rematch being sought, he hopefully looks forward to take the second match the way he did against the Mexican-America, Andy Ruiz.
