From Muhammad Ahmadu Saka, in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has said that he remains in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite ongoing internal challenges.

Governor Bala said this while speaking with journalists in Bauchi during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

He dismissed speculation about a possible defection while calling for mature and issue-based politics ahead of future elections.

He described the issues within the party as “not insurmountable,” and expressed confidence in resolving them through dialogue and strategic engagement.

“We are where we are. Politics is dynamic, but we must be strategic,” he said, while dismissing rumours linking him to other political parties.

Mohammed said that political leadership must be guided by vision and integrity rather than desperation for power, noting that Bauchi people are politically aware and cannot be misled.

He called on political actors in the state to avoid bitterness and divisive tendencies, urging them instead to embrace peaceful coexistence and healthy competition.

“This is a state with a rich democratic history. We must not engage in politics of hostility. Power comes from God, and the people will always decide,” he added.

The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that the political space in Bauchi remains open to all, including opposition actors, without intimidation or suppression.

He also assured young people of opportunities to participate in the political process, pledging that his leadership would continue to support emerging leaders to realize their ambitions.

While acknowledging security and socio-economic challenges, Mohammed maintained that his government remains focused on delivering good governance through prudent management of resources and sustained development initiatives.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive of security agencies, noting that stability is critical to political and economic progress

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to leading Bauchi with transparency and responsibility, pledging not to betray the trust of the people.

Similarly, in his Sallah message to the people of the State, the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed charged Muslim faithful across Nigeria to extend good deeds to the less privileged in their neighborhood and embrace peace and unity.

The Sallah message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado, describing Eid- el-Fitr as “more than a festive occasion. It is as significant as a period of reflection, renewal and recommitment to the core values of Islam. I urge our citizens to uphold and sustain the virtue cultivated during Ramadan.

“True success lies not only in observing Ramadan but in embodying its teachings throughout the year,” the Governor stated, encouraging continued support for the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.

He called on citizens to emulate the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whose life remains a model of mercy, justice, and humility.

He commended religious leaders, scholars and Imams for their dedication throughout Ramadan, noting their critical role in promoting moral values, unity and peaceful coexistence. He urged them to sustain their efforts in guiding society towards righteousness and harmony.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unity while highlighting the state’s longstanding tradition of peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic and religious groups. He called on residents to continue fostering tolerance, mutual respect and collective responsibility in building a cohesive society.

Addressing security issues, the Governor urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

Mohammed assured the public of the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that security remains the shared responsibility.

Reflecting on his administration’s journey as it approaches the end of its second and final term, expressing deep appreciation to the people for their trust, cooperation, and support. ‘I reaffirm my resolve to consolidate achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy, with a focus on sustainable development, institutional strengthening, and improved welfare.”

Acknowledging prevailing economic challenges, the Governor assured citizens of ongoing efforts to ease hardships through targeted interventions, social protection programs, and investments in critical sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development.

He expressed optimism that the resilience and faith of the people would see them through current challenges, urging all to embrace hope and gratitude during the Eid celebrations.

He wished all citizens a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr and prayed for continued blessings upon Bauchi State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
