From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, CON, has commended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) for upholding the high standards it has been known for since its establishment in 1962.
The Governor made this remark during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, and a high-level delegation from the university to the Government House in Katsina on September 26, 2025.
Governor Radda praised ABU for maintaining its academic standards, noting that the institution’s founding father, Sir Ahmadu Bello, continues to inspire the university’s excellence.
He emphasized that ABU remains one of Nigeria’s leading institutions, both nationally and internationally, due to its sincere intentions since its establishment.
As a distinguished alumnus of the university, Governor Radda expressed pride in being a product of ABU, stating that the institution’s glory endures and that any northerner would be proud to associate with it.
He highlighted ABU’s significant contributions to the development of Katsina State, recalling the role of former Governor Umaru Musa ‘Yar’Adua in establishing ABU’s School of Basic Studies in Funtua.
Prof. Ahmed led the delegation to condole with Governor Radda and the people of Katsina State over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari and also commiserated with the Governor over his recent road accident.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Governor for granting the delegation an audience despite his tight schedule and noted that the university community was relieved and excited about the Governor’s recovery.
