The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminilayi Fubara on Friday arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport amidst cheers from his teeming supporters.

The governor arrived at Port Harcourt a day after a mammoth crowd waited endlessly for his arrival and subsequent resumption of office on Thursday at Brick House, Rivers State seat of power.
The Governor arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at about 12:19 p.m. on Friday, more than 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu ended the six-month emergency rule in the state.
He was greeted by a cheering crowd of supporters who had earlier converged at the VIP wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, awaiting his arrival.

While the House of Assembly resumed sitting on Thursday, Fubara did not show up at the Government House, despite the hundreds of supporters who had gathered to welcome him.
But his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said during an exclusive on Channels Television’s Politics Today that the governor is not under any compulsion to arrive Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Flanked by his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu and his Chief of Staff Edison Ehiye the governor left the airport in a long motorcade to Government House where he is expected to resume duty.
The inability of the governor to arrive at Government House on Thursday has raised concerns among his teeming supporters who were worried over his delayed arrival.
A large crowd of men, women and youths mobilized across the 23 local government areas of the state by the governor’s political group , The Simplified Movement waited till 6.30pm on Thursday for the governor’s but the later did not show up.
The Governor’s supporters had waited endlessly for his arrival on Thursday and left for their various destinations at the end of the day.
On arrival at the Brick House, the Government seat of power, Governor Fubara was expected to take briefs from the Head of Service who our reporter learnt received the handover note from the outgone Sole Administrator, Rtd. Admiral Ibas Ete.
