From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The Division Police Officer, Sabon Tasha Division Kaduna  Command, Mr Arowoshegbe Olu, has called on the civilian populace to support the Police Force with relevant information that can aid them fight crime.

He said this in his speech during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Police Community Relations Committee  (PCRC) held at Sabon Tasha, Division.

According to the DPO, anyone with vital information that can be useful to the Police should be willing to collaborate with the Force as it will go a long way in the fight against crime.

He said that given the level of insecurity in the community and state, it is important that both the civilians and the Police Force be united in the fight against crime, otherwise the issue of insecurity will continue to thrive.

Mr Arowoshegbe opined that if one sees something but chooses to stay silent, such acts will only limit the efforts of the force as they will be unable to do anything about it, especially when such crimes remain covered.

He therefore tasked the community leaders in the PCRC to encourage the citizens to comply with the Police Force by giving useful information, assuring them of the division’s commitment to secure their lives and properties.

“I feel honoured that this kind of recognition is happening in my time. This is 40 years of dedication, of hard work, of resilience, of collaboration. It is 40 years of brainstorming on the best way to bring the Police closer to the people.”

“It is not 40 years without challenges or difficulties but we succeed because PCRC is a family that has made up its mind to thrive.”

“We need the category of men and women, Christians, Muslims and free thinkers, retired people and businessmen, responsible husbands and wives, we need you all. Except you collaborate and do your part, we can do nothing.”

“We are suffering from a lack of sufficient information and manpower resources, so your help will go far in this fight against crime and I assure you, whenever you call on us, we will answer and act with immediate effect.”

In response, the Chairman of the PCRC, Engr. Paul Okafor commended the efforts of the Division in securing the Sabon Tasha community over the years.

The Chairman also applauded the members of the PCRC for their continuous support and commitment to sustaining the PCRC which has distinguished it in not only the Division, but the State at large.

He also assured them of future collaborations between the community and the police force, adding that they will do their best to support in any way they can.
