From Suleiman Amagbor, Lagos

Over 250 participants from across Nigeria will gather for a three day brainstorming session in Lagos to access the gains and future of drone technology in the country at the fourth Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition (Dronetecx 2024) slated to begin tomorrow, Tuesday.

Our correspondent who visited the venue of the conference, the NIGAV Expo Event centre at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos report that organisers and exhibitors were seen putting finishing touches to their stands while others readied the latest drone technologies for display beginning tomorrow.

Coordinator of the programme and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of F.C.I International, the parent company of DRONETECX, Mr Fortune Idu told our reporter that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth outing.

Idu said the event, the 4th in the DRONTECX exposition series will host over 250 delegates who have shown interest in participating at the conference in other to showcase the latest drone tech to users in the country.

He said “the use of drone technology is no doubt gaining momentum in Nigeria but there are still a lot of challenges to its authorisation and uses that need to be address hence the annual gathering of experts here to look at the progress made and how to sharp the future of the technology. We can’t afford to be left behind.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Idu disclosed that twoawards have been included in this year’s DRONE event to support further efforts to open the industry to the youth and help maximise the opportunity created by drone technology..

They include the Drone for Humanitarian award that encourages using drones to save or enhance life which was won by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the new planned N100,000 cash award targeted at the youth who win the live contest on Drone precision landing, an indoor contest that tests pilot precision land skills at the event.

“The winner will also be open to signing a project contract with DRONETECX for business growth. This award is supported by UFO and ERE, the leading pilot droning company and the leading drone application software company in Nigeria, respectively.

DRONETECX, supported by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, identifies the potential of RPAS transformative power for enterprise development under a robust regulatory framework.

At DRONETECX 2024, NCAA and F.C.I International, the parent company of DRONETECX, will offer an introductory awareness bridge-building seminar, DRONE 101, to help all appreciate what is required as basic for Drones entering Nigerian airspace.” Organisers explained further.
