Agitations in North aimed at blocking Tinubu in 2027, AYCF alleges

From Femi Mustapha, Kaduna
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has raised serious concerns regarding the ongoing disruptions and agitations in the North since the assumption of power by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima administrations in 2023.
The President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, has attributed these agitations to a desperate section of the northern political elite who are allegedly plotting to prevent President Tinubu from seeking re-election in 2027.
According to Shettima, there is a deliberate effort by certain politicians in the North to set unrealistic and unattainable standards for the Tinubu administration, to discredit the government and sway public opinion against President Tinubu.
This campaign of vilification and destabilization is reportedly part of a broader strategy to weaken President Tinubu’s support base in the North.
According to Shettima, the continuous attacks on key allies of President Tinubu, are part of a broader scheme to destabilize the government and prevent Tinubu’s potential reelection for a second term. The AYCF views these actions as desperate attempts by power seekers to halt the administration’s progress and reverse its anti-corruption efforts.
The AYCF views these actions as a calculated attempt to dismantle the President’s support network and thwart his chances of securing a second term in office.
Describing the efforts of the anti-Tinubu forces as too early in the day, the AYCF has warned against the deliberate propagation of false narratives and the use of obscure groups such as a certain Arewa Youth Forum and many more to come, to undermine the President’s allies and tarnish his reputation.
“In the face of the unfolding scenario, the AYCF calls on President Tinubu and his team to remain vigilant and resolute in their commitment to the nation’s progress. We urge the President to be wary of the propaganda campaigns being orchestrated against his administration and to stay focused on delivering on his promises to the Nigerian people.
“It is imperative for the government to stay focused on its goals, remain resilient in the face of these challenges, and work towards ensuring a stable and prosperous future for Nigeria. The administration must anticipate and counteract these moves to safeguard the progress and development of the nation.
“As a group dedicated to the advancement of our beloved country Nigeria, the AYCF finds it ridiculous for any group to assess and judge an administration that is barely one year old against a set of incredible expectations; against fair standards of judgment, including the judgment from the government’s political opponents, against developments and circumstances that no one knew the nation will confront, and even against the failures and abuses the nation is having to pay for from the previous administrations,” Shettima said.
