The Social Democratic party, SDP has expressed its determination to take over power from the grip of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
It said it will reposition the party’s structures for a rigorous strategic political strive ahead of 2027 general elections.
State Publicity Secretary of the party (SDP), Hon. Ibrahim Ahijo Karlahi disclosed this in a communique held by the state
executive committee of the party in Yola at the weekend.
He said that strategic decisions on the state of party have been taken in that regard.
In the communique made available to the media, the party confirmed that the 2023 governorship candidate remains the leader of the party in the state, while Rt.Hon.Wamfari Theman is the North East National Vice Chairman of the party.
The party also resolved to promote unity and harmony amongst the membership as well as leadership affirming that, SDP is a progressive political platform open to all citizens in the state and country at large for all to join.
According to the communique, the party has analyzed the mistakes committed in the last 2023 elections while consulting far and near with critical stakeholders with a view to wrestle power from the ruling opposition parties in the state.
“The SDP is a progressive party open to all Adamawa citizens to join as we resolve to reposition it (Party) for the battle ahead to take over the mantle of leadership in the state.
“We resolve to promote unity and harmony among all party members and leaders in the state as we confirm that, our 2023 governorship candidate, Dr. Umar Ardo, the state leader of the party”. The Communique highlighted.
Recall that the party took third position after PDP and APC who emerged in first and second positions in the overall results of the 2023 general elections in Adamawa state, though some political pundits opined that the SDP was supposed to have come in the first position by the provisions of electoral laws  for not defaulting during the electoral processes through acts of violence, rigging and corruption as the cases were with the opposition parties.
