From Godwin Agia, in Jalingo

The Taraba State Government, on Friday, renamed the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, after former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.

The building, which serves as the state government seat of power, will now be known and address as the T.Y. Danjuma House.

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas who announced the renaming of the State government house during a special ceremony in Jalingo, the state capital, cited the former minister’s significant contributions to Nigeria and his vital role in the development of the state, added to his dedication to national service, philanthropy, and his commitment to the people of Taraba.

Recall that during the recent legislative session, members of the state House of Assembly, justified their decisions to collectively pass the bill seeking to rename the government House after Danjuma, by referencing his massive contribution to the development of the state.

Lawmakers had during the session unanimously voted in support of the decision of the state government to rename the seat of power after Danjuma.

The retired general expressed his gratitude and called on Nigerians to set aside differences and work toward the country’s rapid progress.

He also emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence across political, tribal, and religious lines.

Danjuma also urged the people of the state to rally round Governor Agbu Kefas and support his administration’s efforts to advance the state’s development.

Citizenship Daily reports that the governor has built ten office blocks for special advisers, three security gates, banquet hall, chapel, warehouse, guest house and fire service station among others in the government house.
