A proposed budget of over 30 million US dollars has been submitted by the Joint Defence Board to the NTC chairperson on Tuesday.
The Joint Defense Board, (JDB), the body responsible for commanding for exercising command and control over the forces and training centers submitted a proposed budget of 33 million US dollars to the Chairman of the National Transitional Committee (NTC), Tut Kew Gatluak Manime who also doubles as the presidential advisor on security.
The budget is expected to take care of pending tasks that were not completed during the first phase, as well as the commencement of the second phase.
The South Sudan People’s Defense Force Spokesperson, Lul Ruai Koang said the proposed budget, if approved, could pave way for the training of the second phase of the Necessary Unified Forces.
“The leadership is working on that. And as soon as the request made is answered positively, then the remaining members of Necessary Unified Force will be deployed so that we start the second phase,” Lul stated. “The proposed budget will take care of uncompleted task during phase one, as well as will enhance the commencement of second phase.
Over 50,000 trained forces were graduated and only a hand full of the figure has been deployed.
