The South Sudan’s National Examination Council has said it needs over 700 million South Sudanese pounds to complete the process of marking and releasing the senior four national examination results.
Lack of funding is said to be the reason for failure to release results of the secondary schools’ exams for 2023.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, the National Examinations Council Secretary General, Simon Nyok said the delay is also affecting timely registration of the candidates for this year’s secondary school exams.
“We need roughly 740 million South Sudanese pounds that were left in the ministry of finance and planning,” Nyok said.
He stated that they are engaging with the Ministry of Finance to secure funding of SSP 740 million to complete the processing of the results.
“Due to the lack of resources, these results were supposed to be released by March but unfortunately, here we are,” he said.
At least 45,000 candidates across the country sat for the Certificate of Secondary Examinations more than seven months ago.
