From our correspondent, in Minna
Suspected Boko Haram members have reportedly attacked the people of Zongoro community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state.
It was reliably gathered that the Boko Haram members, Monday, stormed the area in their large number carrying dangerous weapons firing sporadically to scare the villagers.
Sources told our reporter that the suspected criminals later proceeded to Lolo village on their motorcycles where they slept at a village which is just two kilometers away from Bassa community.
The suspected Boko Haram members had occupied two villages of Lolo and Taimako where they carried out their criminal activities unabated, however, the number of casualties were yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the Niger state Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Garba Abdullahi Mohammed  (rtd) said the bandits were not left unchecked as the state government remained resolute in addressing the menace of insecurity confronting the state.
Garba Mohammed hinted that security operatives were on the trail of the suspects, saying that in the interim, the Niger state government is doing it’s best to resettle those affected by bandits attacks to provide some relief to them without delay.
