From Umar Alibe, in Damaturu

The Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has presented Group Life Assurance cheques totalling ₦8,075,586.30 to 10 families and beneficiaries of deceased police officers of the Command.

The presentation, held at the State Headquarters, Damaturu, was a significant welfare intervention aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who are no longer with the Force.
While no financial benefit can replace the loss of a loved one, the Group Life Assurance Scheme provides a measure of assistance to families at a particularly difficult period.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police expressed the Command’s sympathy with the bereaved families and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased officers in the course of their service.
He emphasised that the Command remains committed to the welfare and wellbeing of its personnel and their families.
The CP appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, PSC(+), NPM, for his continued commitment to the welfare of Police personnel and their families, noting that such initiatives demonstrate the Force’s recognition of the sacrifices made by its officers.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously, particularly towards their welfare, education and the future wellbeing of their children and dependants.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a representative expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, and the entire officers and personnel of the Yobe State Police Command for their support, compassion and concern towards the families of the deceased officers.
The representative acknowledged the financial assistance as a meaningful gesture of support during a difficult period and prayed for continued strength, protection and success for the leadership and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner further assured serving personnel that the Force remains committed to improving their welfare and working conditions, while urging officers and men to remain dedicated to their duties and uphold the core values of discipline, professionalism, integrity and service to humanity.
The Command remains committed to supporting the families of its fallen and deceased colleagues and ensuring that their sacrifices and contributions to policing and public safety are duly recognised, according to a statement by
ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer.
