Eight political parties reject IPAC  leadership in Zamfara

A coalition of eight political parties in Zamfara State has taken a position that there is no constitutionally recognized leadership steering the affairs of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Zamfara State.

This was disclosed by the state interim Chairman of the coalition, Amb. Adamu Haruna Tsafe while briefing newsmen at a press conference in Gusau, Zamfara State capital on Saturday.

Tsafe, the state Chairman of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), listed political parties under the coalition as YPP, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Action Peoples Party (APP), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Social Democratic Party (SDP), (AAC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

He further said that the umbrella of some political parties claiming to be the leadership of IPAC in the state are not legitimately positioned as leaders of the council.

“This is to make it clear to the general public that on behalf of the coalition of G8 political parties that the election that brought the so called leadership of IPAC in Zamfara is not lawful, infact it was unconstitutional.

“We are not part of the political parties claiming to be the leadership of IPAC in the state”, he explained.

He insisted that any activity conducted by the leaders of political parties should not be recognized as the council because it has no constitutionally recognized leadership.

He expressed dismay over a recent press conference organized by the leaders of some political parties parading themselves as leaders of IPAC in the State.

“In fact the legitimacy of the so called state leadership of IPAC remains questionable as the election was conducted with full of undemocratic manner which resulted to petition and our group is waiting for response from the Headquarters of IPAC, Abuja.

“We want to make it clear that the Eight political parties that constituted part of the IPAC are not aware of the conference.

“We therefore condemn the act and totally dissociate ourselves from the so-called press conference that holds no objective and reason,” Tsafe has dismissed.

“All issues raised by the conveners of the conference are born out of malice and cannot be attributed to the state government”, he explained.

“They decided to condemn the state and federal government out of greed intention.

“We are very surprised how certain individuals will come under the umbrella of IPAC to condemn the state when we all know that IPAC is an advisory body established to coordinate the activities of all parties operating in the state and the federal government.

“It is therefore against the laid down rules of IPAC to condemn any government but to ensure parties build their internal democracy.

“The coalition is keenly following the developmental projects of this administration and any right thinking person will rate the performance of government as high and is spread across the state.

“We are also living witnesses to number of support given to security agencies to help convert the menace of insecurity in the state by the present Government in both state and federal government”, Amb Tsade added.

While reacting, the state IPAC Chairman, Sulaiman Bungudu dismissed the allegations raised by the coalition of eight political parties.

Bungudu noted that the election which produced the recent leadership of IPAC in the state was legitimate and lawful.

“I think our election was conducted by the National representative of IPAC headquarters, Abuja under the supervision of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The election was also supervised by the security agencies and the media practitioners.

“I am therefore calling on the G8 coalition to come and join us to contribute their quarter for the success, sustainability and developmentEight political parties reject IPAC leadership in Zamfara
