Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation
FANSAN YAMMA, ”the successful operations, carried out by troops
deployed under the task force, led to the rescue of all victims
without casualties and further weakened the activities of criminal
elements operating within the state.”
According to the military, the first operation was conducted by troops of Sector 2 in Bagega after receiving credible intelligence about a group of armed terrorists moving on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.
Acting on the intelligence and supported by real-time surveillance, the troops swiftly mobilised and tracked the terrorists to their location. Upon contact, the troops engaged the criminals with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon their mission and flee the area.
Subsequent exploitation of the location resulted in the discovery of a makeshift terrorist hideout where five kidnapped victims were found and rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists within the community.
The troops engaged the suspects in a fierce exchange of fire, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives as they escaped from the scene.
During the operation, eight additional kidnapped victims were successfully rescued, while two vehicles believed to have been used by the terrorists were recovered.
Military authorities confirmed that all rescued victims have been handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary medical attention, documentation, and further support.
The Joint Task Force stated that troops remain actively deployed across the operational theatre and continue to conduct aggressive patrols, surveillance missions, and clearance operations aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of movement.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on
terrorist groups and ensuring the safety of communities across the North-West region.
