Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, retd., has appealed to politicians to imbibe the spirit of politics without bitterness that will provide an enabling process of electing credible leaders of their choice.
He made this known in an interview with journalists after performing the two raka’ats prayer for Eid el Kabir at the Eid prayer ground led by Malam Habibu Mai Basira in Minna.
General Abubakar emphasized that peace is the pre requisite for any meaningful development, and implored Nigerians irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation to continue to pray for peace in the country to achieve greater heights.
He then prayed to Allah to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to Nigeria towards overcoming the numerous challenges bedeviling the country and congratulate Muslims for the Eid el Kabir celebrations.
Similarly, Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has called on Muslims and Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the peace, unity and development of the country.
Governor Bago also expressed optimism about a brighter future for Nigeria, however stressed the importance of the Eid prayers, describing them as a platform that brings together people from different walks of life in unity and devotion.
He further appealed to Nigerians to continue to be patient with the government, assuring that efforts are being intensified to improve the welfare of citizens and advance national development.
The governor congratulated Muslims on witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir festival and urged them to use the occasion to reflect spiritually by drawing closer to Allah through worship, sacrifice and seeking forgiveness.
