A Philanthropist Dr Danjuma Adamu Dabo, has won the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Bauchi South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Dabo, a grassroots politician and philanthropist, defected to the opposition PDP from APC recently following intense pressure from supporters who insisted it was time for him to represent the Bauchi South senatorial district at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.
The event which took place in Bauchi was witnessed by a mammoth crowd of supporters and party faithful, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Representatives from party headquarters in Abuja as well as state officials of the party among other stakeholders.
Dr. Dabo was unanimously elected through a consensus option, and his election was consequently affirmed by the congress committee in accordance with party guidelines and the Electoral Act.
His emergence as the PDP flagbearer has introduced a new dimension to the contest in Bauchi South Senatorial District.
He will be contesting the seat with Bauchi Governor Bala Muhammad of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, APC candidate , and Garba Dahiru Salanken Bauchi ADC candidates for Bauchi South in 2027 elections.
Also present at the PDP State Congress were the seven PDP aspirants for the Bauchi State House of Assembly, PDP members from the seven local Government Areas, officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) among other security agencies.
Dr. Dabo who is the founder of the Danjuma Dabo Foundation, a philanthropy organization that offers free education for indigent students and orphans in Bauchi, contested the senatorial seat on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
He is the former executive director at the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and National Implementation Advisor to the World Bank funded Better Education Service Delivery for All (BEDSA) – program under the Universal Basic Education Council (UBEC).
Speaking after he was elected Dr Dabo said
“Today, with a heart full of humility and a deep sense of responsibility, I feel honoured to have been declared as the consensus Senatorial candidate of our party for Bauchi South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
This moment is not a personal victory but a victory for democracy, for unity of purpose, and for our collective commitment to the progress of Bauchi South.
I express my gratitude to the Almighty Allah for His infinite grace. I also extend my deepest appreciation to our leaders at all levels, from the national leadership of the PDP to our state chapter, , and the stakeholders of Bauchi South senatorial district who, through meticulous consultations and a spirit of brotherhood, declared my candidacy, following my clearance after a successful screening exercise by the party.
Looking ahead to 2027, my vision is for Bauchi South that is fully integrated into the digital economy, a district where our youth have access to functional skills and global opportunities, and a constituency where every farmer has the support to turn subsistence farming into commercial agribusiness.
This declaration of my candidacy is a call to service, not an invitation to celebration. I pledge to run a clean, issue-based campaign devoid of rancour. I reach out my hand of fellowship to every stakeholderto join this moving train of progress.
The mandate given to me today is a sacred trust, and under the banner of the PDP a well known Party in the grass root and in all nooks and crannies of the State we will continue to do our best and gives you the best representation of elected.
