Governor Uba Sani has renamed the Centre for Qur’anic Science at Kaduna State University in honor of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the late Islamic cleric who passed away on November 27.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, the Governor announced this decision during the Maulid celebration of Fityanul Islam.

The centre will now be known as the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Centre of Excellence for Qur’anic Sciences and Memorization.

The Governor had previously promised to honor the late Sheikh’s memory when he led a 30-member delegation to Bauchi to commiserate with the deceased’s family.

He also pledged to establish a Foundation dedicated to promoting inter-religious harmony, a principle for which the respected Islamic scholar was known during his lifetime.

While speaking at the Maulid celebration held in Zaria, the Governor urged Muslim faithful to unite in devotion and to “uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose message transcends boundaries.”

The statement noted the Governor’s gratitude towards the leadership of Fityanul Islam for their unwavering commitment to peacebuilding and social cohesion.

He expressed appreciation for their prayers and support for his administration and the development of Kaduna State.

Furthermore, Governor Uba Sani reaffirmed his dedication to pursuing an inclusive, people-centered governance that ensures no one is left behind in Kaduna State.

Additionally, he revealed that he regularly consults Sheikh Bashir Dahiru, one of the late Sheikh’s sons, on issues related to Islam and leadership. Sheikh Bashir emphasized that selfless and effective leadership is rooted in justice, asserting that when justice and equity prevail, peace will follow.
