From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

On Friday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated a series of modern facilities at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).

The upgrades include a state-of-the-art ablution center, 50 restrooms with VIP sections, and a 300,000-litre overhead water tank designed to serve both worshippers and the surrounding Ungwan Sarki community.

While in Kaduna for the wedding of former Zamfara Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari’s son, Tinubu described the initiative as a testament to unity and corporate social responsibility across Nigeria’s diverse regions.

Before this intervention, the mosque operated with a small ablution area that was severely inadequate for the high volume of worshippers, especially during the Friday Juma’at prayers.

The new ablution center can accommodate up to 300 worshippers simultaneously, while the overhead tank ensures a continuous water supply for both the mosque and the surrounding community.

Tantita Security Services, chaired by former militant leader Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, primarily focuses on oil pipeline surveillance in the Niger Delta.

The site engineer, Abba Mubashir, explained the scope of the project, noting that all work was executed to the highest standards. “From the foundation to the finishing touches, everything was completed. The ablution area is spacious, and the 300,000-litre tank now provides water for the mosque and the community,” he stated.

Mubashir also mentioned that Tantita is extending its community support initiatives to other areas in Kaduna, including the construction of an Islamic school in Ambushia and a Christian school in Sabo.

The Chief Ladan of Sultan Bello Mosque, Malam Abdurrahman Abdulhamid, expressed appreciation for Tantita’s involvement in reviving and completing the previously stalled project.

“Alhamdulillah, this project was initially started by Mr. Jack Rich but was abandoned for over three to four years. Tantita came in and completed it.

Now, 300 people can perform ablution at once, with 50 toilets, including VIP facilities, and the 300,000-litre tank will serve both the mosque and the community,” he said.

He prayed for God’s blessings on Tantita and urged the company to continue its community-driven initiatives. Residents of Ungwan Sarki described the project as timely, highlighting how it has alleviated water shortages in the neighborhood.

The commissioning ceremony added vibrancy to President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna, further emphasizing the growing role of private sector actors in addressing infrastructure gaps across the country.
