From Joseph Uchenna, in Makurdi

The new Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche has pledged his commitment in ensuring quality health care delivery to the people of the State.

This is even as he called on staff of the ministry to embrace teamwork, discipline and professionalism in a quest to transforming the state’s health sector and provide quality health delivery to the people.

Dr. Ogwuche made the call during his inaugural meeting with staff of the ministry in Makurdi as he officially resumed duty as Commissioner for Health.

He appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia for giving him the privilege to serve the people of the state, and the determination of the governor to give the ministry all the needed support to achieving greater successes and strengthening health care delivery services to the people of the State.

The new Health commissioner who emphasize the importance of team work, discipline and accountability ,called on staff of the ministry to maintain professionalism in the service delivery, assuring them that in whatever way they contribute to upliftment of the ministry, it would be recognised.

Dr. Ogwuche said his appointment was not for his personal gain but to serve the people of the State and promised to carry out the vision and agenda of the Governor faithfully as captured in the development blueprint of the state, stressing that the ministry has a critical role to play in achieving that vision.

“As Commissioner, I believe in teamwork, discipline and accountability. I will operate an open-door policy that welcomes ideas, innovations, and constructive feedback. At the same time, I will insist on professionalism, diligence, and zero tolerance for corruption or negligence. We are all partners in this journey, and I see everyone of you as valuable stakeholders in the success story we are about to write.

“I want to assure you that your contributions matter. No role is too small in the chain of progress. From the top directors to the junior staff, each of us has a responsibility to ensure this ministry delivers quality service to the people. Together, we shall build a culture of excellence where hard work is recognized and where the citizens can truly feel the impact of government in their daily lives”, Ogwuche stated.

He promised to engage closely with the Permanent Secretary, directors, and other key officers to fully understand the status of ongoing projects, financial commitments, and challenges of the ministry.

“Our immediate priority will be to identify the ministry’s pressing goals, such as completing stalled projects, strengthening service delivery, or achieve quick wins that directly benefit citizens”, he added.

Dr. Ogwuche therefore further called on the staff to join hands with him, to put aside differences, and to focus on their shared responsibility of serving the good people of this state with integrity, dedication and passion

Earlier, in her remark, permanent secretary in the ministry, Dr. Beatrice Tambo, while handing over to the commissioner assured him of support to enable him succeed.

Speaking on behalf of staff of the ministry, director public health, Mrs. Esther Menge expressed readiness of the staff of the ministry to work hard to achieve the set goals of quality health care delivery.
