The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced Mr. Misa Musa Jauro of the All Progressives Congress, APC winner of Ganye Local Government Council constituency bye-election in Adamawa state.
Returning officer of the Saturday 16th August 2025 bye-election, Professor Tukur Ahmed declared that, Misa Jauro of the APC who polled 15,923 votes won the state Assembly contest to defeat his opponent Mr.Mohammed Joda of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP. Who scored 15,794 votes.
The election results indicates that Jauro of the APC emerged victorious with a slim margin of 129 votes in the fiercely high stake contested election which was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere despite allegations and counter-allegations of electoral malpractices among the two rivalry political parties (APC and PDP).
It could be recalled that, the by-election was informed as a result of the demise Hon.Abdulmalik Jauro who died in May 2024 after brief illness and was the former Deputy Minority leader under the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state Assembly.
Some political pundits are describing the development to be a signal of what is to come in the 2027 elections which would be a fight to finish between the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, despite his acclaimed provision of dividends of democracy in the state.
Newly elected lawmaker Misa Jauro is the elder brother to late Abdulmalik Jauro as the bye-election was viewed as a litmus test between the APC and PDP in the state following the PDP:s insistence that Ganye is its traditional stronghold while the APC maintains it’s supremacy by producing the former and late lawmaker in the 2023 elections.
INEC has since issued certificate of return to the new elected member Misa Musa Jauro after the announcement of the outcome of the bye-election at the Commission’s headquarters in the state.
