From Victor Edozie, in Port Harcourt

The Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt and Arewa Chairman in Southern Nigeria, Ambassador Musa Saidu has lauded what he described as quality people-centred projects initiated by the Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri.

Saidu, who is also the International Human Rights President on Ecology and Marine Africa, as well as Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria, IPMAN, taskforce on anti-pipeline vandalism and products monitoring and illegal bunkering activities in the eastern zone, in a statement in Port Harcourt said  he was proud of Diri and the projects initiated by him saying that the projects were ambitious.

Saidu said he was not aware of any other governor in the state, apart from the pioneer Governor, Chief D.S.P Alamieyeseigha, who dared to do what Diri is currently doing.

He commended the governor on the three senatorial district road projects and noted that the projects are very impressive and commendable strides, saying that it will make life easier and enhance growth in the rural areas.

He said, “You can imagine that there are people in this life who have never seen a car drive into their communities. Diri made it possible. Look at a place like Oporoma, headquarters of Southern/Ijaw, you can imagine the joy that those people will have when the Oporoma road is completed.

“I can assure you that deaths on the waterways will be a thing of the past. There will be improvement in commerce. I am also hearing that very soon the state will be enjoying steady power supply because of the new turbine that Diri is installing.

“This is how a leader should behave. So, if the people have good roads, steady electricity, and good schools, what more is left? I am aware that he is equally empowering his people even as he is building sports infrastructure. Diri has done well.”

Saidu urged the federal government to give serious support to the governor to enable him complete the projects in record time.

He said  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should look beyond partisan political considerations and give every support to Diri, especially on the senatorial roads and the Agge Deep Seaport projects.
