One person has been killed and 39 animals stabbed to death while 249 cows were rescued in Kaduna village of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this to reporters in Bauchi.
He said “Today, 8th August, 2025, the Command received a report from one Emmanuel Bulus, the village head of Kaduna via Bogoro LGA, Bauchi State, that one Irmiya Yohanna male, aged 40 years of Kaduna-Bogoro, went to farm situated at the outskirts of the village on 07/08/2025.
“Still, he couldn’t return home, a search was conducted within and around the farm, and his lifeless body was found lying on the farm premises”.
Wakil said “On receipt of the report, a team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Fitoka Golda swung into action, visited the scene and moved the deceased body to Bogoro General Hospital, where a medical doctor certified him dead.”
He said “Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was suspected to have been killed by anonymous people. Subsequently, some irate locals invaded some rearing cattle around the village, stabbed and killed approximately 20 cows, 19 sheep, and several were injured. In comparison, about 249 cows were rescued by the Police, and one Ahmadu Mairiga was successfully arrested, who was suspected to be responsible for the tragic death of Irmiya Yohanna”.
PPRO said “the investigation further discovered that the deceased was on a visit to his farm, surprisingly sighted some cows rearing inside his farm and sought the herders to chase the cows out of his farm, which resulted in a physical confrontation which led to the tragic death of the farmer Irmiya Yohanna.”
He said the State Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu psc, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene, met the chairman of Bogoro, Fulani’s heads (Ardo), Traditional rulers, tsayawa leaders and other relevant stakeholders and the general locals crowded at the frontage of Bogoro Divisional Police Headquarters in Bauchi, addressed them on the efforts and measures put in place to address this tragic circumstance by the Police Command”
Wakil said the CP urged members of the Bogoro Community to exercise patience, warned them from breaching the law, appealed for calm, and assured them that justice would be served accordingly.
