The State Emergency Management Agency SEMA of Plateau and Nasarawa States have pledged collaboration with Benue State Government in the area of disaster management.
Executive Secretary, Plateau State Emergency Agency, PSEMA Hon Sunday Abdu and his Nasarawa State counterpart Barr. Ben Akwash made the pledge while addressing newsmen at the NUJ house, Makurdi on Tuesday.
Hon Abdu who commiserated with Benue people over the killing of 200 persons in Yelwata by suspected armed herdsmen on June 13, 2025, lamented at such aggression visited on the State by the marauders, maintaining that his state is also, faced with such violent attacks
Said he, “We are here to commisserste with you on the killings. The kind of aggression meted on Benue State is same on Plateau. Let us pray for the North Central. We came to understudy Benue secret in disaster management. Benue has suffered a lot and we are here to comfort you”
The Director-General, Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA Barr Ben Akwash also condoled the people over the unfortunate incident in Yelwata, stressing that there is need to explore ways of advancing each otber’s respective courses and discharge our mandate well.
He added, “there is need for partnership with each other especially in the area of flooding in sensitizing our people and be in the state of preparedness.
Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency Dr James Iorpuu said there has been sustained attacks on Benue State since 2011, noting that the attacks have continued to increase.
“We will work together to stop those who come from Nasarawa to attack and kill us”, Iorpuu said.
