Ninety nine persons have been arrested across the 13 local government areas of nasarawa state over alleged violations of the state environmental sanitation law.

Abubakar Mohammed stated this shortly after the conclusion of the monthly sanitation exercise in Lafia.
He said the suspects were arrested while driving vehicles and transacting other businesses during the hours set aside for the exercise.
He explained that all the violators were charged before mobile courts and sanctions according to their offences meted on them.
Meanwhile ,Nasarawa State Government has expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by members of the public during the June sanitation exercise.
Yakubu Kwanta, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources gave the commendation while addressing newsmen after the June exercise on Saturday in Lafia.
The commissioner represented by Mrs Beauty Ebu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, described the level of compliance as impressive and attributed it to support from security agencies, traditional rulers, media as well as inspection team from the ministry.
He also commended the residents, especially shop owners, for clearing drains around their environments and shops as well as motorists for keeping off the roads during the exercise.
Kwanta explained that the exercise had been strengthened to achieve the essence for its reintroduction by Gov. Abdullahi Sule in 2019.
He called on members of the public to always keep their environments clean to guard against the outbreak of all diseases.
“Residents should cooperate more with the government towards ensuring that the state is clean in their best interest.
“If the environment is kept clean, it will guard against possible outbreak of any disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,’’ the commissioner added.
