A factional crisis has rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, as 18 out of 27 executive members of the Gayam Ward have rejected the suspension of the state’s party Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello.
The executives, led by Assistant Secretary Adamu Bawa, claimed that the suspension was done without consultation, quorum, or consent of the Gayam Ward Executive Committee, and therefore, is null and void.
According to Bawa, the suspension of Bello by Ward Chairman Ibrahim Iliyasu and Secretary Ibrahim Kwande was a gross violation of the APC Constitution and amounted to gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of party discipline.
“We categorically dissociate ourselves from the purported suspension of Dr. Aliyu Bello, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the APC,” Bawa said. “The suspension is illegal, invalid, and it is of no effect whatsoever.”
The executives also suspended Iliyasu and Kwande from office and referred them to the party’s disciplinary committee for investigation and sanction.
The development highlights internal conflicts within the APC in Nasarawa State, with the Gayam Ward Exco members reaffirming their loyalty and support for Bello’s leadership.
